| The Company Car funded on Contract Hire is a powerful business tool. It provides a tax efficient, fixed price method of providing your employees with aspirational, motivational transport; it is price competitive and simple to administer. There is, however, a potential catch. By it's very nature Contract Hire is based on a number of fixed parameters, the term of the contract being one of the most crucial. This means that should you need to end your agreement before it's natural termination date (say that salesman didn't work out or you want to upgrade someone's vehicle) it can be expensive; normally a penalty of 50% of the outstanding rentals is payable.
Similarly, in order to obtain the optimum monthly rental on a Contract Hire agreement it is often necessary to commit to a three year contract; not so desirable when you are taking a chance on a new member of staff.Now, however, a solution to both of these situations may be at hand. A new forum has been established to introduce customers requiring short term contracts with customers who wish to terminate their existing contract early without large penalties. A list of contracts with descriptions of vehicles and contract terms will be published on the Web. Customers looking for a short term contract can then peruse this list and then, subject to credit acceptance and a small administration fee, the car of their choice will be assigned to them.The existing hirer comes out of their contract with the minimum charge and the new hirer gets the car that they want on a short term contract but with the benefit of a much reduced monthly cost.
